What is WellRead all about?

WHAT IS WELLREAD?
WellRead is a book subscription service that delivers the best new literary titles and undiscovered gems to its members. We are redefining what it means to be well read one carefully curated book selection at a time. 

We offer ongoing book subscriptions and pre-paid gifting options for adults and kids (0-6 years) that you can explore via our shop all page.

WHAT KIND OF BOOKS WILL BE SENT?
WellRead books are selected with careful consideration. Our selections represent the best new literary releases in local and international publishing from both the fiction and non-fiction camps. Apart from sharing a certain magic quality, our books will all be different (that’s the wonderful thing about our reading journeys). Expect titles outside of the standard Australian bestseller list; they stay clear of obvious choices both to avoid members having already read them and also to enrich the experience of discovery and reading. Expect titles that go on to win literary awards. Expect excellent reading experiences with nuanced characters, compelling themes, rich plots and lasting impressions. Expect all of the things readers want in a good book.

Our kids books similarly represent the most exciting new releases in children’s publishing. Expect wonderful reading experiences with vibrant colours, diverse themes, inspirational characters, stories rich in imagination and heart, and maybe a few farts thrown in for a bit of levity - all of the things kids want from good books.

 

WHAT GENRES ARE AVAILABLE?
WellRead books are more concerned with quality than they are genre. Expect our selections to showcase a wide variety of genres and reading experiences. That being said, if you only like reading shape-shifting stories with a good dose of the New World then this may not be the subscription for you. Our service will be best suited to open-minded readers who want to read widely and keep their finger on the literary pulse. 

 

WILL I KNOW WHAT BOOK YOU’RE SENDING?
WellRead is centred on the idea of surprise and discovery. You won’t know the monthly selection until it arrives on your doorstep. Sounds risky, we know, but we hope you will come to trust our curatorial skills. We take great pride and care in our selections and read mountains of books so that you don’t need to waste time on duds.

 

HOW DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT THE SELECTED BOOK?
Each WellRead delivery comes with a letter explaining why we selected the title as well as reading notes to help stimulate conversation and expand the reading experience. These notes are perfect for a book club scenario and many of our subscribers use them this way. We also encourage our subscribers to join in on the discussion on our exclusive Facebook group WellRead People.

 

DOES EVERYONE RECEIVE THE SAME BOOK?
Yes, at this stage, we handpick one book for all our members.

 

WHAT IF I’VE READ THE SELECTED BOOK?
We usually select new releases to reduce the chance of you already having read it. If you’re one step ahead of us and have already read our selection then we encourage you to share the love of reading by gifting the book to someone you know. 

At this stage we do not offer exchanges or refunds. If re-gifting doesn’t feel appropriate, drop us a line at hello@wellread.com.au.

 

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN EACH DELIVERY?
Each delivery includes a carefully selected book, reading notes and a letter from us explaining why we selected the title. 

Our kids deliveries include a new release hardback picture book (recommended for children aged 0-6 years) as well as reading notes to spark conversation and imagination.

If you’re purchasing as a gift you’ll have the opportunity to add a personal message during the checkout process. Add your message on the cart page using the ‘Add a note to your order’ field and we’ll hand write and include it in the first delivery to your lucky mate.

 

WHAT IS THE CUT OFF DATE FOR PLACING AN ORDER?
Purchase by the first week of the month to receive our latest book selection. Orders placed after the 7th will receive the following month's book.

You can expect your book to arrive at the start of the month.

 

Our Subscriptions

HOW DOES MEMBERSHIP WORK?
Choose from our monthly or every second month subscription and we will send you an excellent new book at the start of each month (or every second month). Sign up by the first week of the month to receive our latest selection. Orders placed after the 7th will receive the following month’s book.

Skip, change your frequency or cancel at any time.

As a member, you’ll have exclusive access to our Facebook group WellRead People.

 

HOW DO I JOIN?
Simply add your preferred subscription (monthly or every second month) to the cart and proceed to checkout. You’ll be prompted to fill in your email address, billing and shipping information. 

Next, look out for your delivery and enjoy the benefits of being a WellRead person.

 

I JUST SIGNED UP. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
You will receive your book at the start of the month along with some reading notes to expand the experience. Skip any month with no charge.

You will receive an order confirmation email each month when your payment is processed for next month’s delivery.

 

WHAT IS THE CUT OFF DATE FOR PLACING AN ORDER?

Sign up by the first week of the month to receive our latest selection. Orders placed after the 7th will receive the following month’s book.

For example, if you sign up on the 8th of November you would have missed the November cut off date and will be sent the December book as your first delivery.

 

HOW CAN I SKIP A MONTH?
First up you need to create an account using the email address you used to purchase.

Once you have an account, log in using the ‘person’ icon in the top menu. Click on ‘Manage subscriptions’ then go to the ‘Delivery schedule’. Here you’ll find a link to ‘Skip this month’.

We recommend using a desktop computer to manage your account.

CAN I CHANGE MY SUBSCRIPTION FREQUENCY?
Just send us an email at hello@wellread.com.au and we’ll sort it out for you.

 

HOW DO I CANCEL?
We’re sorry that it’s not working out for you. Remember, you can skip a month or two with no charge.

To cancel your subscription log into your account using the ‘person’ icon in the top menu. Click on ‘Manage subscriptions’ then go to the ‘Your subscriptions’ where you’ll find a link to cancel. 

We recommend using a desktop computer to manage your account.

NB : You will need to create an account using the email address you used to purchase.

Gifting

CAN I PURCHASE AS A GIFT?
You sure can. We offer 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 month pre-paid subscriptions for both adults and kids at a discounted rate. Please visit our Gifting page for more information. 

 

HOW DOES GIFTING WORK?
Simply add your preferred gifting package (1, 3, 6, 9 or 12 months) to the cart and proceed to checkout. You’ll be prompted to fill out your email address for the confirmation email. Please enter the recipient’s details in the ‘Shipping details’ section so we know where to send the books to. 

You can add a personal message during the checkout process. Add your message on the cart page using the ‘Add a note to your order’ field and we’ll hand write the note and include in the first delivery to your lucky mate. 

We’ll also email through a gift certificate that you may wish to give the gift recipient ahead of their first delivery.

CAN I CANCEL A GIFT PURCHASE?
Unfortunately you are unable to cancel a gift purchase as the full amount is prepaid. If you’d like to pause the deliveries or change address details for any reason please send an email through to hello@wellread.com.au and we’ll help you out.

 

HOW DO I PURCHASE MORE THAN ONE GIFT PURCHASE ?
You can add multiple items to your cart by adjusting the quantity on the cart page. Please note that you can only add one delivery address at the checkout so please email us at hello@wellread.com.au with your order number and the additional delivery address(es) and we’ll update your order. Alternatively you can purchase each gift separately.

 

WellRead Kids

HOW DOES WELLREAD KIDS WORK?
WellRead Kids works just like our adults offering so please check out the information under ‘Subscriptions’ and ‘Gifts’ for more information (see above).

 

WHAT AGE RANGE IS WELLREAD KIDS SUITABLE FOR?
Our kids range is recommended for children aged 0-6. From newborns looking to build their dream library to 6 years old beginning to read independently, WellRead helps kids experience the immeasurable joy of reading.

 

WHAT TYPES OF BOOKS WILL YOU SEND?
All books will be hardback picture books and will represent the most exciting new releases in children’s publishing. Expect wonderful reading experiences with vibrant colours, diverse themes, inspirational characters, stories rich in imagination and heart, and maybe a few farts thrown in for a bit of levity - all of the things kids want from good books.

Payment and Billing

WHEN WILL MY CARD BE CHARGED?
Subscriptions will be charged on the 20th of each month. For gifting purchases, the full amount will be charged when the purchase is made.

 

HOW CAN I PAY?
We accept payments by credit card (Mastercard, Visa and American Express), debit card and PayPal.

 

HOW CAN I SKIP THIS MONTH?
Monthly and bi-monthly subscriptions can be skipped at any time.

Shipping & Delivery

WHERE DO YOU SHIP TO? |
At this stage we only ship within Australia.

 

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PACKAGE?
We aim to have all orders packaged and ready to send by the start of the month. So you can expect your delivery to arrive within the first week of the month (unless our book selection is hot off the press and we need to wait for the publication date).

 

AUSTRALIA POST HAS LOST MY DELIVERY?
Please email us at hello@wellread.com.au and we’ll arrange another delivery for you.
