Gifts for book lovers

As a team full of people who love to buy gifts for our loved ones, we wanted to put together a quick list of our favourite book-related gifts to make it easy to buy gifts for the literature lovers in your life.

Buying gifts for readers can be a tricky business. No matter the occasion, the questions are always, ‘Do they already have this book?’, ‘Do they like this author?’... it’s a big task! As a team full of people who love to buy gifts for our loved ones, we wanted to put together a quick list of our favourite book-related gifts to make it easy to buy gifts for the literature lovers in your life.

Set the tone

For an avid reader, there’s nothing better than a fresh book. Except, perhaps, gorgeous treats to enjoy in quiet reading moments.

Pepe Saya Caramels

We’ve long loved Pepe Saya’s gorgeous butter – it’s our go-to for an indulgent brunch – and now we’ve got ourselves addicted to their Buttery Salted Caramels. Melt in your mouth gorgeousness, they are the perfect accompaniment for a long afternoon, reading on the lounge.

The Berry Tea Shop Blends

If you’re going through Berry in NSW’s Shoalhaven region and you’re not stopping off at The Berry Tea Shop … we might need you to reassess your priorities. Every time we visit we find a new blend to frequent our mugs, but you don't need to be a local to order from their online store. Favourites of ours include the French Earl Grey, Lemongrass and Ginger and Masala Chai.

Nonna’s Grocer Candles

We love a quirky candle and Nonna’s Grocer has some of the best, with realistic fruit and veg that are almost too good to burn. We don’t recommend reading by candlelight, but if you’re going to do it, why not do it by lighting the wick on a plum- or fennel-shaped candle.

Get decked out

Finding a present for readers who already have bursting bookshelves doesn’t have to be rocket science. Give them merch or artwork that puts their beloved titles on display.

WellRead Tote Bags

Being a book lover isn’t all reclining and turning pages with ease. It’s also about carrying an enormous amount of books home from the bookshop or back to the library. To do that, you need a tote bag that is up for the task. We recently released our own tote bags in two different designs – including one with artwork by Blue Mountains artist Oliver Carney – and we can’t stop staring at them.

Olga Crée Wall Art

There’s something about Olga Crée’s watercolour depictions of some of our favourite titles that screams ‘millennial ennui’ and we are here for it. Across prints, tote bags, t-shirts, puzzles and more, she even offers personalisation so your chosen artwork reflects your hair and skin tone – or that of your book-loving friend  if that’s what you’re after.

Emily Snowdon Artist

Book stacks, tablescapes and gorgeous colours … it’s all we can do to stop ourselves from filling our walls with Emily Snowdon’s art. Plus, our lovely WellRead followers can get 20% off at the checkout with the code WELLREAD.

Make it personal

Building a home library is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Unique gifts for readers are all about personalisation.

Fleur & Fable Bookplates

Art from a bygone era, bookplates are an elegant and whimsical way to personalise your books in a way that suits you. Fleur & Fable offers up bookplate stickers, stamps and embossers (our favourite!). With so many different designs to choose from and various ways to personalise your bookplates, you can really make your darling books your own, turning them into treasured tomes for years to come.

All about the books

WellRead Literary Book Subscriptions

The WellRead team has the privilege of reading – and writing by hand – the lovely gift notes that our customers send with their orders, so we know that a WellRead subscription makes the perfect gift for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas and birthdays, all the classics. But a subscription is also ideal for graduation gifts, first anniversary gifts (traditionally paper is the theme!), housewarming gifts and gifts for employees moving on to new opportunities.

A WellRead subscription is also the perfect gift for book lovers who are difficult to buy for. We hand-pick a new release literary fiction title and deliver it to their door each month so, unless they’re waiting on the doorstep of their favourite bookshop on release day (no judgement, we do this sometimes too!) they’re unlikely to have a copy of our latest pick on their shelves.

Our literary book subscriptions are available as gifts – that span 3, 6, 9 or 12 months – or as ongoing deliveries that charge each month.

If you’re looking for a one-off gift, our shop always has new literary fiction releases available, so you can handpick what your a gift for the book lover in your life.
